Where to run in Paris?

As runners know, when you've got the running bug, it follows you everywhere, even on vacation. So what do you do when you decide to spend a weekend in Paris? Running in the streets of the capital means exposure to pollution, asphalt, crowds and more.

Canal de l'Ourcq Paris

The Ourcq Canal

Accessible by metro from your hotel on the Grands Boulevards.

Well-known to Parisian runners, the Canal de l'Ourcq is a charming spot where, depending on the time of day, you can come across picnickers and pétanque players. Even if it's a little less “green” than some Parisian parks, running along its banks is still very pleasant.

From our 3-star Provinces Opéra hotel, get off at Poissonnière station and take metro line 7 towards La Courneuve. Get off at Stalingrad, from where the most courageous can easily reach the Parc de la Villette along the canal.

View of the Palais du Luxembourg with its well-kept gardens, statues, flowerbeds and strollers under a clear sky.

The must-see Tuileries Gardens

Located between the Concorde and the Louvre, the Jardin des Tuileries is perfect for those wishing to combine sport and sightseeing during their weekend in Paris. Designed by André Le Nôtre, this French-style garden is home to famous sculptures by Maillol, Giacometti and Rodin.

Listed as a historic monument since 1914, this 25-hectare park is a cultural and historical landmark not to be missed.

The terrain is ideal for those looking for flat running or for “split” sessions.

To get there, take metro line 8 to the Bonne nouvelle station, a stone's throw from our hotel on the Grands Boulevards.

Buttes Chaumont Paris

Buttes Chaumont, a park for weekend runners

As vast as the Tuileries, the Buttes Chaumont park is nonetheless more popular than the Tuileries. The park's undulating scenery offers runners on vacation or beginners a beautiful 3 km loop with a slight gradient. The surface is not sandy, and runners will be able to do some very good hill work. Very green and well planted with trees, it offers a certain isolation.

Its wide paths make it easy to cross paths without getting in each other's way.

Commissioned by Napoleon III to Baron Haussmann, it abounds in a wide variety of plants that will appeal to botanical enthusiasts.
