Unusual Paris tour

Discover unusual Paris

To discover the monuments of the 10th arrondissement while having fun, why not start a treasure hunt? Can you find the fake RATP facades, the hollowed-out buildings that look like residences but actually conceal air ducts? There are 4 in the 10th arrondissement, so keep your eyes peeled. Neighboring districts also have their share of surprises: the Jean-sans-Peur tower, the astonishing cathedral building on rue Réaumur in the 2nd arrondissement, and the house of alchemist Nicolas Flamel in the 3rd.

Covered passageways Paris - Passage brady

Paris and its covered passageways

For an unusual stroll, look out for covered passages, those pedestrian walkways in the middle of buildings. Some are hard to find, but once you've identified them, you're in for a treat! Whether shopping arcades, restaurants or simple alleyways, often covered in glass, these passages are sometimes real works of art. In the 10th arrondissement, you'll find the Passage Brady, occupied by Indian and Pakistani traders, and the Passage du Prado. Have fun finding the Art Deco details that remain in the structure. A little further away, you'll discover many more typical passages, such as the neo-classical Passage Verdeau, brimming with antiques.

From Saint-Denis to La Bastille...

Step back in time and retrace the history of the French monarchy. The capital retains the rich imprint of bygone days, and if you're interested, it's impossible to miss out. Discover the Palais de la Cité, the official residence of kings from the 10th to the 14th century, before the monarchy moved on to the Louvre and the splendors of Versailles. Among the many religious buildings, let's mention only the indispensable Notre-Dame de Paris and the cathedral basilica of Saint-Denis. The official burial place of the kings of France, it houses 70 recumbent figures, and of course there are many other places to discover in a city that became a capital fifteen centuries ago!
